Process Automation

Got a process that eats up your time? Let’s start there.

Manual processes (spreadsheets, chasing emails, reports rebuilt by hand, paper records) turned into simple, automated systems, where every piece of information exists once and is the same for everyone.

Sound familiar?

Time is almost always lost in the same places.

Your client asks for a status update, and you have to piece it together every time.
To find out where a task stands, you have to ask three people.
Coordinating the team eats into the contract margin.
Inventory, progress or traceability are still recorded by hand.
The same data lives in several files, and the numbers never match.
The management report takes days, and it’s already out of date when it arrives.

You don’t need to overhaul the company. You need to start from one process, measure it and make it simple.

How I work · The DISBIT path

Discover, Invent, Simplify, Build IT.

Four phases, each with a concrete output. Technology comes last: only after understanding, designing and simplifying. And you can stop after any phase, deciding with the numbers in hand.

D

Discover

Process assessment

Analyze needs, existing (as-is) processes and the opportunities offered by emerging technologies.

You getAn as-is process map, points of waste, technology opportunities and an estimate of the value that can be recovered.
I

Invent

Design and business case

Design tailored, innovative solutions, complete with architecture, business case and return on investment (ROI) analysis.

You getSolution architecture, delivery plan, business case with ROI and funding options.
S

Simplify

Process re-engineering

Re-engineer workflows to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and adoption across the organization.

You getRedesigned workflows, clear rules, defined roles and responsibilities, and an organization ready to adopt them.
B

Build IT

Program management

Direct and manage complex transformation programs, making sure time, budget and quality standards are met.

You getA solution delivered and adopted, people trained, results measured against agreed KPIs.

Who I work with

Two situations, the same problem.

Something complex to run, held together today by people, files and reminders.

01

Service and project providers

Consulting firms, system integrators and technology providers running services and contracts for large clients, who need to make them manageable, measurable and profitable.

  • Running the service and the team, from daily detail to the big picture
  • A single source of data shared by team, management and client
  • Automatic, always-consistent client reporting
  • Service KPIs, margins and contract value

How I step in: I support the team on an ongoing basis, as service manager or service governance lead, or I lead a single optimization project.

02

Operations and logistics

Companies that produce, move or maintain goods and want more efficient logistics processes. I optimize them with technology solutions (IoT, RFID, Computer Vision): fewer manual steps, fewer errors, real-time visibility of materials, products and assets.

  • Optimized logistics and warehouse flows, with automatic inventory
  • Traceability of products, semi-finished goods and assets
  • Production progress and quality control
  • Efficient use of spaces, equipment and resources

How I step in: on a project basis, starting from the Assessment of one process: first I simplify it, then I choose the technology.

What innovation is

A new or changed entity, realizing or redistributing value.

The definition in ISO 56000, the basis of innovation management and of my Innovation Manager certification (UNI 11814).

That’s why, in a DISBIT project, technology is never the goal. What counts is the value it creates: time given back to people, errors avoided, decisions based on reliable data.

INNOVAGENDA

12 principles for the strategic management of innovation, inspired by the ISO 56000 series. Not a checklist, but the management lens the DISBIT method applies to processes.

Innovation doesn’t fail for lack of ideas, but for lack of governance.

About

Ilario Tornese

Industrial Engineer · Innovation Manager

For over fifteen years I have worked where business meets technology: I understand how people work, and I turn what they need into concrete systems.

Why DISBIT

DISBIT grew out of my work as an analyst, the person who bridges business and technology. It brings together the ability to synthesize, the habit of spotting the critical path early, the meticulous way I work and a method refined over years of practice. And one rule I never compromise on: quality work.

The logo tells the same story. The cuts run through D, I, S and B, the phases where you analyze, design and simplify. IT stays whole: technology comes last, and it is the solid part.

I have led digitalization, automation and data analytics programs in industry, logistics, energy, services and public administration, in Italy and abroad. I work as an independent consultant and, when a project calls for it, I team up with selected technology partners while remaining your single point of contact, from analysis to results. I also check whether a project qualifies for incentives, tax credits and subsidized finance.
